About Dan

Dan Allum is a writer and cultural practitioner whose work spans theatre, television, radio and live performance.

He is the Founder & Artistic Director of Romany Theatre Company and has developed original television drama with the BBC, ITV and Leftbank Pictures. His stage work has been presented at the National Theatre, Royal Court Theatre and Royal Opera House, alongside nationally touring productions across the UK.

Beyond theatre and broadcast, Dan has written an animated feature film screenplay, developed graphic novels and interactive story concepts, and is an established radio writer. His practice moves fluidly across forms, unified by a sustained interest in identity, narrative inheritance and belonging.

Alongside his creative work, Dan has delivered staff training at the University of Cambridge, lectured at Anglia Ruskin University and worked with senior leaders on presentation, communication and reflective practice.

Across all contexts, artistic, educational and professional, his work explores how stories influence behaviour, culture and direction.

A Road of My Own represents a convergence of these strands: lived experience, artistic practice and reflective inquiry brought together within a single, evolving cultural project.
